Start Anew

“Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” – Carl Bard

The Chinese have a saying “The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the next best is today.”

If you think of your life as a story, then each day is a new page.  Funny how the calendar has a new page today too.  And even though the story might have been unfolding in a particular way, a plot twist could appear today.  Not in the Deus ex Machina of ancient Greek plays (don’t plan on winning the MegaMillions today because I’m going to), but a new character could walk into your life or you could go on an unexpected journey, or the seeds you previously planted might be unexpectedly ready to harvest and bear new fruit.

Just because you have been on a particular path does not mean you can’t turn off the road you are on.  Your actions of the past do not necessarily doom you to a future.  Stop smoking today.  Stop lying to your spouse and yourself.  Start eating healthier today, or work out for a few minutes to start a better health program.  Make the change you know you need to make and make the brand new start to make a better you and brighter future.
