The Endless Epic

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” — Rainer Maria Rilke

We know the first line, the one that starts the story. It sets the stage for us and our anticipation is palpable as we await Mother Nature to turn the pages.

Then comes the next line as days get longer and brighter and warmer.

Then the snows start to melt and the rivulets trickle and birds start to return.

Line after line, the old story is re-read.

The first robin dances across the lawn at dawn, red contrasting the brown.

The bright green buds push forth hope.

The winds mellow and become gentle compared to the howling screams of winter.

Bit by bit, the story unfolds each Spring.

Rejoice in the endless tale.
