“If the world were perfect, it wouldn’t be.” Bizarro
One insight into the human psyche is the concept of hedonic adaption, where the shiny new toy loses its luster quickly. The new position no longer gives us the thrill, our beautiful partner no longer gives us butterflies in the stomach. What was new and exciting is merely there.
Humans need challenge, need change. We need problems to solve. We need challenge. We need to struggle to appreciate what we get, if we don’t have to work for it we decline into ennui and anarchy.
We need to have something to work for or else we become weak.
The human condition is not perfect and can never be, because perfection would destroy imperfect beings.
