“Discipline is choosing between what you want now, and what you want most.” – Abraham Lincoln

What feels good in the moment is rarely what is best overall, because what is better takes work and sacrifice and patience.  It’s hard, and that is why it is rewarding.

The bed is warm and comfy.  It’s raining out.  The donut is calling your name.  It would feel so good to text them back…

Don’t.

Hold the line.

Don’t do what gives the moment of pleasure but hours of regret later.

Get up and go for the run  Resist the donut.  Block them because they are bad for you and you know it.

Make the little sacrifices in the moment to reap the huge rewards later.

Give up the momentary all too fleeting pleasure so you don’t have that sick feeling in your stomach after violating your vow to yourself or another and the consequences thereof.

Discipline is doing the little right things to earn the big ones.
