To be able to call out the incongruities that abound and everyone accepts is considered humor, but it is deeply rooted in truth. This may be why the Dalai Lama is so pithy and many Masters (martial arts or Zen) are so jovial and witty, getting the cosmic joke on a deeper level than the rest of us.
When little kids speak the truth that others don’t expect they either get in trouble or they get laughs. That is because the truth is often funny.
