Recover and Rectify

“If you hit a wrong note, then make it right by what you play afterward.” – Joe Pass

We all make mistakes.

We say something wrong, or do something wrong.

The question is: what do you do next?

What do you follow up the first thing with; another bad choice and then another and ruin your tune and life?  Or do you pivot off of the out of place note to create a new pattern that is better and more beautiful, where the “bad” thing was really a catalyst for something even better?

Do you get flustered and freeze, or adapt and improvise into something more interesting and organically awesome?

Do you give up and exit stage right?  Or do you shrug and riff and come back into harmony and let the flaws show the beauty of the piece and life itself?
