“Do what you love and success will follow. Passion is the fuel behind a successful career.” Meg Whitman
I admit I used to have trouble sleeping on Sunday nights. Not because I was stressed about going to work the next day. I was excited, like a kid on Christmas Eve. I LOVED what I was doing.
If you love what you do, it doesn’t really feel like work but more like play. Yes, there always things we don’t enjoy around our profession (and they most likely involve paperwork of some form), but if the majority of the time you are doing something significant, somewhat challenging, and in alignment with your mindset and temperment it is a joy to work. We lose track of the time and forget to eat because we are in what psychologist Csikszentmihalyi called “Flow”, that balanced place where there is just the right amount of pressure and difficulty to bring out our best and keep us fully engaged. When this is enhanced with a deep passion for the work it is a beautiful thing.
