Needed Training

“People who write about Spring Training not being necessary have never tried to throw a baseball.” Sandy Koufax

It is said the hardest thing to do in sports is to hit a fastball. A spinning orb rotating at over 2300 rpm, traveling almost 100 mph over 60 feet, 6 inches. Said orb is just under three inches in diameter, and you have to react and hit it in under 400 milliseconds with a stick that is at best 2.625 inches wide.

Throwing said ball is almost as tough, because a straight pitch even at 100 mph will be hammered into the stands. The pitcher being ready and able to take a little off, add a little, move it around in the strike zone and trying to disrupt the hitter is part of the cat and mouse game of baseball.

Athletes don’t roll off the couch into an MLB game. You don’t in life either.

The air is getting warmer, time to start stretching and getting ready for the game of life!
