“I don’t know if it’s just me or everyone, but the whole vibe with skiing is not so much thriving on competition against others as it is against myself and the clock” – Picabo Street
It is rarely you versus them.
Almost never are we standing against an opponent with a binary outcome, where one has to lose for the other to win.
The challenge is the course and our own limitations.
Maybe you are trying to build a business from scratch. Rarely will you take away from another by your success, but rather you are creating value for the community and yourself. You are not trying to take away from another businessperson but rather add to the economy and enrich yourself by helping to solve problems for others. It is you against apathy and ennui and the legislative constraints and technical limitations, not you versus a human competitor.
How creative can you be to solve the problems?
How hard can you work?
How can you expand your skill set so you can do the bookkeeping or marketing or coding or whatever is needed to improve the business and make it stronger, faster, more flexible?
Get better. Get quicker. Get going on the challenge of the environment, not the other entrepreneurs. Because there is room for many on the mountain.
