The Grateful Giver

“In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.”  Dietrich Bonhoffer

How do you repay the friend that is there for you in your darkest times, bringing hope in your despair?  You can reciprocate when they need you or do it for someone else, but in that blackness of our need is disproportionately consuming, so giving of ourselves in times of strength or abundance is micronized in comparison to the gift we received.

How do you repay your parents for the gift of life?  No matter how much you honor them, no matter the care we give them as they age, no matter the love we bear for them their gift is greater than anything we can give them and so we must strive to be the best we can for them and to them, knowing that we return but a fraction of what we drew from them.

How do we repay love, for unconditional love is priceless.

Be grateful for the endless gifts you have been bestowed, and bestow on others freely and graciously.
