“‘Cause a little bit of summer is what the whole year is all about.”
–John Mayer
What is it that kids look forward to all year? Their birthday. Christmas. And the big one: summer vacation.
Weeks on end with less responsibilities, no shoes and fireflies at night. Days so hot that ice cream is the only viable dinner, and swimming until you turn blue and shiver.
Cookouts and cousins.
Bedtime is no longer a set time, and the only alarm clocks are when you are going someplace like the amusement park or to visit friends or go on an adventure.
Wandering outside with no plan, finding amusement in a frog at the stream or a random encounter.
The rules and responsibilities are just different in the summer, and that is why kids of all ages look forward to it all year round.
