Fall of Flame

“October’s poplars are flaming torches lighting the way to winter.” — Nova Beir

The fire casts light and warmth, tribe gathered around its glow as the darkness is pushed back.

Camaraderie and celebration, sustenance and socialization as the wood crackles.

The night looms, the dangers just beyond the edge of the light.

But as the fire burns, the spirit is strong.

Until the light fades.

The cold creeps in.

Soon the fire turns to brown ash, winter’s bite arrives, and we fall into the darkness.
