“The leaves are all falling, and they’re falling like they’re falling in love with the ground.” – Andrea Gibson
There is a certain inevitability and gravity that becomes apparent in fall, a knowledge that resistance is futile and it is just a matter of time before the fruit has all fallen and the leaves pile on the ground.
Some leaves will drift in the wind, caught in currents that keep them aloft, desperately weaving and dodging in an effort to elude that which cannot be escaped.
Some, seemingly resigned, plummet quickly. Amor Fati as the Stoics proclaimed.
Sooner or later the ground claims all.
