Long-Term Victory

“Today’s tactical victory does not guarantee tomorrow’s strategic success.”

-Peter Pace

Winning the war does not guarantee the peace.

Gaining the advantage in the moment does not mean that your ultimate ends are achieved.

A triumph does not yield an empire nor a legacy.

It was not D-day that rebuilt Europe but The Marshall Plan afterwards that led to growth, stability, and both personal and economic freedom.  History is filled with victories that did not bring peace and prosperity but merely more bloodshed too soon thereafter as they won wars but not the peace.

What comes after the triumph is what determines who is remembered and who is reviled.
