Free To Do What is Right

“Freedom has been defined as the opportunity for self-discipline.”

― Dwight D. Eisenhower

When a freshman heads to college and suddenly the restrictions they have grown up under are removed, what do they do?  Do they go wild in a hedonistic all you can eat of new experiences, forget the habits that earned them admission, and fail out because they are members of the square root club and have had more partners than passing exam grades?

What does someone do when their long-term relationship ends?  A dozen dating sites and more one-night stands than the local furniture shop, or are they restrained and take time to heal and know themselves and go on some dates while doing the self-work instead of unrestrained exploration and pursuit of pleasure?

What do you do on a day off?  Do you sleep in an extra four hours then lay around and break your diet, or do you get up close to your normal time?  Do you still workout on vacation?

When you don’t have to be good, are you still good?
