“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more.” Melody Beattie
I grew up as one of six kids, plus there always seemed to be a cousin staying with us or a friend at the dinner table. Often there was not a surplus of food, but there was always a way to make it be enough. Whether it was extra vegetables from the garden or some extra liquid in the soup to thin it out (add some additional spices and it was just as if not more flavorful), there was always enough.
Somehow my mom (who passed away a decade ago today) found a way to have enough time for all of us in the way that we needed. There was always enough love, because as someone else from a large family said “you don’t divide it, you multiply it.”
For those that have gratitude, a little can be enough. For those lacking gratitude, everything is never enough to fill the void inside.
Be thankful for what you have, even if it does not seem like it is enough because a gracious heart will make it sufficient.
