“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Want to know what my favorite day of the week is?
Today.
Because it’s the only day when you can accomplish things.
Yesterday is done and in the book. Nothing I can do to change it. I can reflect upon it and learn from it, but yesterday is just like five Thursdays ago or twenty-seven years ago today or July 2, 1795. In the past and unchangeable.
Tomorrow might not exist.
No matter what we think or worry about, we can influence the future but cannot control it. And as the weathermen and women know, it is too complex to calculate so be ready for rain or shine and have plans but be ready to alter them as needed when situations inevitably change.
But today?
Today I can do something.
I got out of bed, so it is a good day.
And it has been built off the past but is the best day I know I have going forward, so I will make the most of it.
Today is my favorite day, always.
