Post Trauma Choice

“We do not suffer from the shock of our experiences, so called trauma – but we make out of them just what suits our purposes.”  -Alfred Adler

PTSD or PTG?

When something happens, do you use it as an excuse for laying down and essentially dying or as a catalyst for growth?

When you were passed over for the promotion did it poison your attitude, or did it fire you up and force you to improve and diversify your skill set and increase your visibility and inspire you to get better?  So much better that the trajectory of your career was completely altered for the better, because you chose to take the setback and use it to get a running start on the future?

The incident does not matter.  It is your mindset, your interpretation thereof that determines if an event is ultimately bad or good for you.  As Shakespeare said: it is our thinking that makes it so.
